Basilica of St. John Lateran

This is the official cathedral of Rome and the oldest of the four papal basilicas, holding the title of Mother and Head of all Churches. For pilgrims, it is a site of immense historical and spiritual significance, serving as the seat of the Bishop of Rome. It is also famous for the nearby Scala Sancta, the holy stairs believed to have been climbed by Jesus during his passion.
